Hypothesis: If we drop a ping-pong ball and a golf ball from three different heights(1m, 2m, and 3m), then the ping-pong ball will have the least velocity when dropped form the 1meter mark.
During the lab, there were two tests to measure velocity. The first was done by hand, this was where we would drop a ping pong ball and golf ball from 1meter, 2 meter, and 3 meters. We took time measurement using a stopwatch on the computer. We had to just drop the ball, we could not add any extra force. We started with the 1 meter and went up from there. The second test was similar to the first accept we used a vernier motion sensor taped to a meter stick, in place of the stopwatch.
We may have had different results with the second test because in the first test we were able to stand on a chair and get as close to achieving the 3 meters as possible but for the second test, which was the next day, we were not allowed to stand on a chair, so the tallest person in the group had to hold the ball up as high as possible while another person held the yard stick containing the motion sensor above it.
